Custom Cleaning at Its Finest - FAQs

Carpet

Why should I steam clean my carpet as opposed to other methods?

Steam cleaning (hot water extraction) is the most popular method for carpet cleaning. By not leaving cleaning chemicals and products behind, there is no sticky residue in the carpet to attract soil. Many carpet manufacturers will not honor carpet warranties if you use any method other than steam.

How long will the carpet take to dry?

Carpets normally dry within 24 hours. Carpet will feel noticeably damp following cleaning. Some believe that steam cleaning will saturate carpet and cause mold. If steam cleaning is performed by unqualified technicians, excessive moisture provides the environment for water-borne microbial activity to grow.

Can you fill my warranty requirement for the annual cleaning?

Yes. We are an IICRC "Certified Firm." With that, you will be provided with a "Certificate of Professional Cleaning" to be filed with your warranty to validate you have maintained the carpet in accordance with your warranty agreement.

Can you remove all stains / spots?

When the stain / spot has not been chemically altered by initial removal attempts, most can be completely removed. The best thing you can do in the event of an accident is to absorb as much of the substance with paper towels as possible. When you can no longer absorb anything further, fold several paper towels and place them on top of the accident. Then, weigh it down with something plastic or glass (i.e., detergent container, large glass bowl). Working on a "virgin" (unaltered) stain / spot provides the best possible removal condition for the technician to address your concern.

What should I use for the stain / spot removal?

For isolated common spots, fresh club soda is a safe bet. If accidents occur that are petroleum-based, make-up, bodily accidents etc., hiring a certified cleaning professional is highly recommended.

Will I see stains / spots return?

Sometimes stains re-surface (wick) after cleaning. In situations where wicking is likely, we apply a stain-absorbing powder product that prevents this from occurring and has provided superior results.

How do you protect my furniture and belongings from damage during the cleaning process?

Sliders are used to move large furniture and protect your floors. We use corner guards to protect corners, legs of furniture and walls. Protective floor mats are used on flooring at all hard surface transitions to the carpeted areas. Styrofoam blocks and plastics are placed under all furniture that is moved during the cleaning process. Clients are requested to remove all items off of tables from inside any cabinets that you desire us to move. The utmost care is taken in moving your furniture and belongings.

How do you clean the corners and edging (baseboards)?

We use a small extraction tool to clean along edges and corners and to remove bugs and debris often embedded along the baseboard.

Tile

How well does high pressure steam cleaning work?

We do not recommend this process unless your tile and grout is noticeably soiled. For routine maintenance, hot water and white vinegar works quite well. You must use an emulsifying product to loosen soil. High pressure steam cleaning is a very aggressive method and yields incredible results.

Can you steam clean painted or stained grout?

No. Tile steam cleaning is high pressure. For this reason, there is a strong probability damage would occur to stained or painted grout (the paint or stain material will be removed). Therefore, it is not recommended in this situation.

Can grout be sealed?

Yes. We can do this or we can show you how to do it. Grout sealing options have advanced to a point where you can easily do it yourself, saving money.

How long does it take for the tile and grout to dry?

Tile is dry in an hour. Due to being porous, grout may take 10 - 12 hours to be fully dry. Sealant can be applied one hour after cleaning.

Upholstered Furniture

How long does furniture take to dry following cleaning?

In general, depending on the degree of soiling, upholstery is generally dry by the following morning. Cushions should not be returned to their position until they are completely dry.
